So when should you schedule your interview? Which day of the week and/or what time of day? Does it really matter? First let’s consider some numbers and general ideas.
According to a study by Accountemps, 61% of CFOs believe that the most productive time for conducting interviews is between 9 and 11 a.m. This early morning slot gives both you and the interviewer the chance to start the day with a clear mind and a fresh perspective. ☕
But it’s not just about the time of day; the day of the week can make a difference too! Some experts suggest that the best days to schedule an interview are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These mid-week slots avoid the chaos of Mondays and the pre-weekend distractions of Fridays. Plus, you’ll be more likely to catch your interviewer in a good mood and at their most focused. 😁
When it comes to the optimal time frame, if you’re able, aim for the mid-morning or early afternoon slots. These times avoid the early morning rush and the post-lunch slump, ensuring that both you and the interviewer are at your best. According to a study by Glassdoor, the ideal interview times are between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., or 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
But remember, the most critical factor in acing your interview is your preparation, not just the timing. Make sure you’re well-prepared, have researched the company, and are ready to showcase your skills and experience.
Those are the general rules. As a recruiter I’m always looking at the pace and momentum of a deal. If there’s a process moving down the tracks with good chemistry & momentum, in my opinion, it doesn’t matter days or times. As in any deal or transaction it’s always best to strike while the iron is hot. 🔨
Good luck 🍀in your interviews this week – whichever day they may be!
