Can AI be helpful in today’s job search process?
ChatGPT has an ominous sci-fi vibe for some people, but for others, it’s actually making the job search process easier already. One area where it’s coming in highly handy is for job seekers in writing a resume and cover letter.
Out of more than 1,000 current and recent jobseekers polled in a recent ResumeBuilder.com survey, nearly half (46%) reported using ChatGPT to write their resume or cover letter. As a recruiter & career coach, that’s an eye opening number. Let’s look further.
Of those candidates, 70% said they saw a higher response rate on the AI generated documents and 59% reported getting an offer and being hired.
In most cases of using ChatGPT — some finessing is needed, but the AI tool can solve the “blank page problem.” In trends and life I’m a “rule of three” guy. Good things happen in threes.
In this instance find three resume formats you like, share the links with ChatGPT and you should find one format to your liking or close to it. More likely you can mash up a couple or a few to get you to where you need to be.
The caveat is that any written text produced by a Chatbot has to be proofed and fact-checked. No fudging or embellishing just because ChatGPT makes it look good. AI is good, but it’s not perfect. In fact, it’s famously only as good as the human-fed data it’s trained with, which means it can often be biased.
We are still in the early days of consumer-ready #AI tools like #ChatGPT, but they’re already helping people get their job search done faster.
