Hiring managers are faced with hiring people from four different generations at this unique point in time: Baby Boomers still in the workforce, Gen X, Millennials, and the newest members of the workforce, Gen Z.
They have wildly different expectations of the workplace and culture, and varying approaches to the job search.
Workplace differences exist, such as technology application gaps, where Millennials and Zoomers are digital natives and Boomers are digital immigrants. Culturally, the different generations tend to have different ideas of what a successful career looks like. Subtle from generation to generation, but largely different comparing Boomers to Zoomers.
Communication differences between the generations can especially arise in the recruiting/hiring & job search process. For hiring managers used to a particular paradigm of hiring, it can be frustrating trying to communicate with one candidate who still believes in good old-fashioned phone communication while another is deeply wedded to quick asynchronous text exchanges.
Working with an experienced recruiter can take the stress of juggling multiple communication styles and wildly varying candidate expectations off of you.
As part of my recruitment & communication process I use text, SMS, messaging apps (like LinkedIn messaging or WhatsApp), email, phone and believe it or not – face to face meetings – pretty much every day.
Leave it to us to facilitate the communication so you can focus on the qualifications & talent.
