So you’ve decided to leave your job and join the gig economy.

Gig work gets a lot of props in the media, but one thing gig workers are finding out is that leaving their full time job to do project, contract or freelance work comes with a major drawback: no health insurance.

The startup Stride Health is tackling this problem by connecting gig workers with affordable insurance options. The platform recommends benefits and insurance based on each individual’s income and particular circumstances.

Already, enterprise gig employers are taking notice: Uber & Door Dash recommend it to their drivers, while Amazon offers it to flex workers.

Healthcare & health insurance continue to evolve in the technology era, and like every other industry, it’s changing rapidly because of entrepreneurialism along with said technology. Companies like Stride also bridge the gap between the conventional healthcare world and digital apps, providing services that impact healthcare without being healthcare services themselves, per se.

As recruiter, I see hiring & staffing models along with roles shifting over time, and I suspect #healthtech innovation will continue to impact this trend.
