Happy Halloween! Out of deference to today’s “holiday” we will discuss a related spooky topic – Ghosting Coasting. (huh?)
Ghosting coasting: An activity that’s become rampant in this volatile job market, where under-qualified candidates, brought on by desperate companies, disappear before they can be fired for their poor performance.
The term is most often used in the restaurant industry, where a serious dearth of workers is leaving many businesses begging for help. They’re hiring people quickly before they lose candidates to the competition, and ending up with poor performers, who move on to the next job quickly instead of waiting around for termination.
Across industries, companies overzealous to hire may be finding themselves in similar predicaments. With job openings at an all-time high and qualified candidates at an all-time low, I talk to clients every day hoping to beat the odds and hire the best talent.
Don’t be scared to hire this fall! If you need to meet talented candidates – give me a shout!
