Read the recruiter rags these days, and they’re full of advice for us Executive Recruiters. They’re saying to be choosy about the clients we work with, and focus only on the ones that are the best prospects for the smaller, pickier pools of candidates in the workforce today.
Personally, I’m not aiming to get any snobbier about which companies I support with my recruiting expertise, but there is some valuable stuff inherent in this advice, which I’d love to share with anyone in charge of hiring and working with recruiters:
✔️ Your company’s brand is critical to attract candidates in an increasingly competitive market
✔️ Being transparent about compensation up front will serve you well in an environment where candidates have choices
✔️ Pay attention to your review on employee-review sites such as Glassdoor — job seekers read them, and you should too!
Just because it’s a candidate’s market does not mean you have a disadvantage in hiring. Particularly if you work with a skilled recruiter, you can find well suited talent for the corresponding roles within your organization.
