BeReal is the New Buzz for GenZ

A prompt appears on your phone screen. You have two minutes to snap a photo and post it. Is it a more authentic view of life?

Everyone on BeReal seems to think so.

The social media app is Gen Z’s new favorite, installed more than 20 million times since July. With no ads and a quick prompt format, it‘s definitely different from what we’re used to.

But no formal advertising hasn’t stopped brands from showing up on the platform. Chipotle (one of the first), arrived in April, sharing promo codes. Others share behind-the-scenes pictures (an echo of what early Instagram used to be?).

So is this a lasting relationship, or just a phenomenon?

Authenticity is an enticing idea at the moment. But can it help but become oversaturated as time (and users, and brands) goes on?

I think it’s an interesting concept. I’m a big believer in authenticity, especially when it comes to your experience, job history and resume.

Candidates (and companies!) often want to know how best to represent themselves. I’ve been in the business 25+ years, and the answer is always as authentically YOU as possible.
