#AI is hot and gaining steam.
A recent survey by Statista showed that 28% of Gen X’ers, 27% of Millenials and 29% of Gen Z’ers will be using generative AI tools in the workplace this year. But how about when it comes to recruiting & hiring?
Candidates – on balance – are still cold toward it when it comes to AI-enhanced hiring decisions.
Americans do not love the idea of being evaluated by computers. In fact, two-thirds of them would actively avoid applying for a job, knowing that a robot would be helping with the hiring decision.
But not surprisingly, if you break these preferences down by generational lines, they shift a bit. Older workers are far less likely to be keen on AI hiring techniques, while a smaller group of under-50 folks (but still a majority group!) say “no thanks” to AI hiring practices.
Will this preference shift over time as AI becomes a more comfortable part of our lives? And as AI improves? I suspect so. Still, as a recruiter talking to job seekers every day, I know how very important it is to speak with and relate to an actual human. That said – if you need to talk anything through, drop me a note or give me a call!
