Just how important is #HR in 2022 and beyond?

HR used to be seen as more or less an administrative function within organizations, but a few things have conspired to change this. First, the pandemic made the job of HR departments incredibly important in order to regroup, reorient, retrain and relocate teams.

Then, the talent crunch got even crunchier, and the competition to hire the best candidates intensified. Not to mention the importance of minding and guiding the corporate culture to help retain talent.

Now, we’re seeing a lot more focus and pressure on HR, and more presence by CHROs at board meetings. One 2021 survey showed that nearly two-thirds of US employers have an HR head that reports directly to the CEO, president or owner.

One of the impacts of this trend is that people across the org now look to HR as a feedback loop versus just a mere hiring function. One of the greatest advantages they hold in business-level discussion is data on the people that make the company go round.

I’ve seen this trend develop over the years and am always excited to see my strategic & results oriented HR friends get their due credit. Looking forward to seeing where this trend leads.
