Closing the Deal

The entire recruiting process hinges on this moment. You’re putting forth a job offer, and hoping your first-choice candidate says YES.

Other than the figures in your offer, which obviously matter, you’ve ideally laid the groundwork in advance. In other words, throughout the interview process you’ve been transparent, communicative and available. You’ve also discussed the candidate’s career goals, counteroffer from current employer and potential competing offers.

No matter how smooth it’s been, though, you should always anticipate obstacles at this juncture — namely, other situations or offers you may be competing against. I’ve never seen multiple offer and counteroffer situations more prevalent than in the last 18 months or so.

Working with a recruiter can help you get your questions answered along the way, ensuring you’re working with a candidate enthusiastic about committing to this role. As a recruiter for 25+ years, I have the experience to coach both hiring managers and job seekers through the finish line.
