It’s April 15th. 2025 Tax season is a wrap*—heartfelt respect to CPAs and tax professionals who powered through filing season. You’ve navigated a labyrinth of filings and client demands. Anyone who’s been through it knows it’s like making sausage. Not a pretty process but in the end it’s done & not too bad. 🌭

A special nod to Florida CPAs still at it—hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton extended deadlines for taxpayers in affected counties to May 1. Hopefully most of your clients aren’t aware of that extension so you’ve got everything pretty much finished. Hang in there. 🤙🏻

The numbers of returns to be filed are staggering—an estimated 140 million individual returns will be filed for 2024, alongside roughly 16 million business returns, including 6.2 million C-corp, 5.4 million S-corp, and 4.3 million partnership filings (IRS, Jan 27, 2025; PwC, April 7). Not including the 2023 returns that will be filed due to hurricane extensions.😲

Extensions to be filed are estimated to be 19 million, up 5% from last year (Forbes, April 11), with 93% of individuals e-filing (IRSCrazy, April 10). Florida pros, you’re also tackling disaster relief claims—70% of firms report heavier loads (PwC, April 7).

For those finished today, take a well-earned breather (and hopefully the rest of the week off). Florida CPAs, keep grinding; just a couple more weeks with (hopefully) less volume. 🫸🏻

Upon reflection, how did your filing season go? Are you in the right place or on the right team to realize your career goals? If you are ready for a post-season career move discussion, drop me a note.
