Interview Follow Up – What’s Too Pushy?

πŸ’Ό Well that interview seemed to go really well! But what happens after the big day? How do you ensure you stay top-of-mind without being too pushy? πŸ€”

Following up after a job interview is important to the hiring process, and it’s important to do it right. Here are four non-annoying ways to follow up after an interview, so you can stand out from the crowd and show your enthusiasm for the role. 🌟

1️⃣ Start before the interview is over. At the portion of the interview where they ask if you have any questions – yes. What is the next step in the process and when might I expect to hear back? Also – Is it ok if I follow up if I have questions or don’t hear anything?

2️⃣ Send a thank-you email: A simple thank-you email is a great way to show your appreciation for the opportunity and reiterate your interest in the position. Be sure to personalize it and mention something specific from the interview to make it more memorable. You’ll be surprised how a simple thank you could set you apart from the field.πŸ’Œ

3️⃣ Consider asking for feedback: A few days after the interview, consider reaching out to your recruiter or even perhaps the interviewer for feedback on your performance. This not only shows your eagerness to improve but also keeps the lines of communication open. πŸ”

4️⃣ Connect on LinkedIn: If you’re comfortable, now is a great time to connect with the interviewer on LinkedIn. At least make sure to follow the company. This is a professional way to stay in touch and keep up with any updates from the company. πŸ”—

5️⃣ Be patient: Remember that the hiring process can take time, and it’s important to be patient. Avoid bombarding the interviewer with multiple follow-ups, as this can come across as desperate. Instead, focus on the quality of your communication and trust that your skills and qualifications will speak for themselves. ⏳

Pretty basic ideas here but try to keep your follow up cadence to once per week unless there are other circumstances. Good luck with your interviews! πŸ€πŸ€
