Nose to the grindstone – right? Get to the office, jump right into emails, then meetings while juggling multiple projects. Sometimes you don’t even notice the time. But maybe you should. Turns out there are time management techniques that are oriented around the human body’s natural rhythms.
Find the right technique and you can accomplish more in less time and reduce stress. Here are a few:
1. 52/17 Rule: ⏰💪🧠
Break down your work into 52-minute sessions followed by 17-minute breaks. This technique, based on our natural ultradian rhythm, helps you maintain focus and prevents burnout. Big rule – when you’re working you can’t do anything else. Stay on task.
2. 25-Minute Rule: ⏰🔥💪
Work for 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute break. This technique, based on the idea that humans can only focus for about 25 minutes at a time, helps you stay on task and avoid distractions. Some say this isn’t feasible given the short time period. Does it fit your work model?
3. 50/10 Pomodoro Technique: 🍅🍅🍅💪
Break down your work into 50-minute sessions followed by 10-minute breaks. This technique is a variation of the 25-minute rule that allows for longer periods of focused work.
Experiment and Find Your Fit: 🧪🏆
All similar concepts, just different cycle times. You can find work cycle times as long as 96 – 120 minutes with longer break times for that matter.
The best time management technique for you will depend on your individual, mental & physical preferences as well as your working style. Try out each technique and see which one works best for you.
Remember, effective time management sets out to work smarter, not harder. By using these techniques, you can achieve more in less time and reduce stress. 💪🏆
