Feeling Like an Imposter

What do Serena Williams, Albert Einstein, Olympic Gold medalist Suni Lee and Tom Hanks (among others) have in common?

Believe it or not – they all have dealt with imposter syndrome. 🥸

Imposter syndrome is a common psychological phenomenon where people doubt their abilities and accomplishments, despite evidence to the contrary. ❓

It’s estimated that up to 70% of people experience imposter syndrome at some point in their lives. 😱

Here are some tips for overcoming imposter syndrome:

💡 Acknowledge your feelings. The first step to overcoming imposter syndrome is to acknowledge that you’re feeling it. This can be difficult, but it’s important to name your feelings and accept them.

💡 Remind yourself of your accomplishments. Make a list of all your accomplishments, big and small. This will help you to see that you are capable and deserving of success.

💡 Going Forward, set realistic goals. Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals. Break down your goals into smaller, more manageable steps.

💡 Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone is on their own journey. Comparing yourself to others will only make you feel worse.

💡 Seek support. Talk to a therapist, mentor, or friend about how you’re feeling. Having someone to talk to can help you to feel less alone and more supported.

Remember, you’re not alone. Imposter syndrome is a common experience, but it’s one that you can overcome. With a little mindfulness, time and effort, you can learn to believe in yourself and your abilities.
