Americans Still WFH While Europe & Asia RTO

While the pandemic was felt around the world in industries from retail to manufacturing to public accounting, the way different countries are bouncing back differs.

In Europe and Asia, earlier this year, the number of people back in the office was hovering around 75%, while here in the US, only about 50% of people had come back to in-person work. (These numbers came from commercial property services magnate JLL via the Wall Street Journal.)

Remote and hybrid work seem to be the new normal indeed for a lot of people in this country. But in my own experience working with client companies and job seekers in my recruitment role, I find that more than half of the people I talk to are back in the office, for the most part happily.

Yes, there are some managerial and technology-focused roles that are absolutely thriving in a remote scenario. But for a lot of companies, there’s no substitute for in-person collaboration and office culture.

I think your perspective (and the statistics) on #remotework really depend on industry and source. Things have certainly changed, but not as much as was predicted early on in the pandemic.
