You’ve landed that job interview for the next rung in your career ladder.

Want to stand out in that job interview?

As a recruiter for the past 25+ years, I’ve both prepped and interviewed thousands of candidates. I have also witnessed how they perform in interviews with hiring managers.

Here’s some quick and dirty advice. Let’s assume the interviewer has read your resume, so rather than repeating that information verbatim, take the opportunity to build on it. Add some color and context. Fill in the white spaces. In order to do this, make sure YOU’VE read your resume and thought through those circumstances and career history.

They know you have XX years in your pocket as a CPA or finance professional. Why does that equip you to step into this new management role?

You’ve been leading teams and demonstrating success for a while now. So why should you be considered for an executive position?

Basically, connect the dots for the person interviewing you, and do it in a way that tells a good (and true) story about your career arc.
