Employee Ghosting in Interview Process

You found the perfect candidate for a key open role. But then you got ghosted. It happens to the best of us.

No way to say exactly where things went wrong, but Glassdoor surveys say there are a few primary reasons candidates drop out of the interview process without a trace:

  • Candidate simply took another role
  • Salary and/or benefits in the offer was/were below expectations
  • Poor communication & management of expectations of hiring process
  • Candidate heard bad things about your brand and workplace from other employees
  • Candidate didn’t hear bad things, but they didn’t hear good things, either!

Never mind that many employees have been ghosted by employers in their interview processes. While two wrongs don’t make a right, the sentiment is certainly out there that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

As an employer, it’s not enough for your reputation to stay intact. You need to proactively brand yourself. Make it known that you provide an efficient interview process and superior place to work by giving a voice to your current employees.

Also, work with a recruiter (ahem) who can talk you up. As a recruiter, that’s part of my job. We find the right candidates who will love working for YOUR company.
