What drives people to want to work hard?
According to a recent survey I saw, most employees are best motivated via one of the following categories:
🔹 22% are play-driven and respond best to things that are fun and funny
🔹 20% are adrenaline-driven and like a challenge — to be a disruptor
🔹 19% are emotion-driven and love a good heartwarming story
🔹 15% are goal-driven
🔹 13% are values-driven
🔹 12% are idea-driven
After years of endlessly hearing about how much ALL employees are purpose-driven, this was interesting news to me. And while no one survey of the workforce is absolutely bullet-proof, I think it’s a good reminder that people are all different.
What makes one person happy at work (funny cat memes) might seem trivial to another who needs to feel driven by a challenge.
As a recruiter, my job is to match growing companies up with the professionals who will feel most motivated at in your culture at your particular company.
