The CPA exam is quite different than when we took the exam back in the stone ages. Back then it was the Uniform CPA Exam (unlike 2024). We took all 4 parts over 3 days in a giant rec hall. Had to pass 2 parts to keep any. (Pretty sure we walked barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways to take it back then.) 🏂🏻
Ah yes – I was so close to being a member of the 300 Club. Three 75’s and a 69 in Law my first time sitting. Then scored a 92 on the retake of Law (overstudied). 📚
Fast forward to 2024 – most of you well know, the CPA Exam has undergone some significant changes. Everyone must take the Core Tests (AUD, FAR, REG) , but then candidates get to select one of the Discipline Tests (BAR, ISC, TCP) presumably based on career interest. BAR = Business Analysis & Reporting, ISC = Information Systems & Control, REG = Taxation & Regulation🏢
We are now past the Q1 testing dates for the Core sections as well as the Discipline sections. Core Test dates for Q1 closed March 26th. Discipline Test dates for Q1 closed February 6th. Q2 testing has already begun for both Core & Discipline.
Those who were able to squeeze in a Q1 Discipline Test should have their results by now as those results have been scheduled for release on April 24th. Core Test results won’t be available until June 4th. So Core Testers get plenty of time to anxiously hold their collective breaths. 🧮
Given the new format, it will be interesting to see what the pass rate will be. The 2023 pass rates were as follows:
AUD 46.75%
BEC 47.44%
FAR 42.12%
REG 57.82%
I guess we are going to have to wait to see how the testing plays out this year for up-to-date stats.
Just in case you’ve been immersed in Tax and/or Audit season, here are the remaining test dates for 2024:
Core Test Dates | Core Results Dates | Discipline Test Dates | Discipline Results
Dates |
|
Q2 | Apr 1 – June 25 | July 31 | Apr 20 – May 19 | June 28 |
Q3 | July 1 – Sept 25 | Nov 1 | July 1 – July 31 | Sept 10 |
Q4 | Oct 1 – Dec 26 | Feb 2025 | Oct 1 – Oct 31 | Dec 10 |
Good luck to everyone pursuing this important and significant career milestone!
